Right click will not allow you to create an Alias if the file is on a read only volume, such as a CD or network share without write permissions.

Instead hold down the Option and Command (Apple) keys on the keyboard while dragging and dropping a file to make an alias to the file at the destination.

There was an article on neowin on winsupersite that suggests enabling Hyper-V sorts out the freezing issue.

IE will freeze after 24 hour too, it seem rendering problem from VGA driver

correct. using ie will allow me to run without issue for days. if i leave chrome open for more than ~20 minutes is slowly comes to a halt

I'm also getting freezing issues on my unibody macbook. I'm not using Chrome, just IE though I'm not sure any specific app is causing it. I'd be curious if I'd be getting these issues on a regular PC.

The way it just freezes is a pain too. No info in the events logs, no crash reports just hangs. Seems to be a fairly common problem. Other possible solutions mention changing the visual effects to best performance and disabling the HDD scheduled defrag. I'll have to try those later.

Yes. Running the 2010 13" MBP. Computer appears to just stop dead. Happens fastest in Firefox, but happens on it's own regardless of app eventually.

Seth are you also on a Macbook...? I backed off my bootcamp Nvidia drivers and let Windows Update put Win8 versions on also, but I still seem to get the freezes still.

Having the same problem in Firefox, along with strange UI glitches. Also had the problem in one of the games from the Windows Store

I'm thinking it is Google Chrome.....doesn't seem to freeze up when using IE.
